Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has been covering natural and war-related disasters for nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of people in these areas. Curry has been a reporter in war zones like Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, news reporter on TV as well as host. She is most known as a correspondent for the Today program which is a morning-time broadcast news program aired on NBC. Curry gained notoriety for her reporting on human rights crises, natural disasters and other emergencies which occurred in war-ravaged areas. Curry was born in Japan and was brought up by her Japanese mother. Her father served as a U.S. Navy sailor. They met during the time their father was in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Due to her father's military duty, the family travelled often. Curry went to high school in the city of Ashland, Oregon. Curry graduated from the University of Oregon awarded her a bachelor of arts in journalism. It is possible that her early encounter with cultures and experiences have influenced her empathetic approach to how she addresses international concerns. Curry could not go to a single school in San Diego, Alameda Oregon, or Virginia for two years because her family was constantly moving. Then, she graduated from Ashland High School. In the role of an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon she began her career as a broadcaster. She became the first female anchor for the station at was 22. Then, she stepped on to become an anchor and reporter at KGW which is which is an NBC affiliate station located in Portland. After moving to Los Angeles, she became a reporter on KCBS TV just four years after making the move into the city. In her time with the station she received two Emmy Awards.
